Emperor Akbar was sitting in court. Then two persons named Raghav and Keshav came with a case of mango tree near their house. Both the persons said that they are the real owners of the mango tree and the other person is lying. Since the mango tree is laden with fruits, neither of the two wants to give up their claim on it.

To know the truth of the matter, Akbar listens to the statements of people living around Raghav and Keshav. But there is no benefit. Everyone says that both used to give water to the tree. And both were seen many times around the tree. It is also not clear from the statement of the watchman guarding the tree that the real owner of the tree is Raghav or Keshav, because both Raghav and Keshav used to pay the watchman to guard the tree.

In the end, Akbar gets tired and takes the help of his clever advisor minister Birbal. Birbal immediately gets to the root of the matter. But they have to prove the case with evidence that which side is right and which is false. For this he creates a drama.

Birbal keeps the watchman of the mango tree with him for one night. Birbal then sends two of his trusted men with "false news" to Raghav and Keshav's house separately on the same night. And after giving the news, he instructs to secretly listen to the conversation happening in the house.

The person who reached Keshav's house tells that some unknown person is trying to steal ripe mangoes near the mango tree. You go and have a look. While giving this news, Keshav is not at home, but as soon as Keshav comes home, his wife tells this news to Keshav.

Keshav says, “Yes… yes… Sun liya ab khana laga. Anyway, the decision is yet to be taken in the king's court… Don't know whether we will get it or not. And where would the strength to fight the thieves come from on an empty stomach; Anyway, nowadays thieves have weapons too.

According to the order, the person who delivered the "false news" informs Birbal after listening to Keshav's words.

  The person who reached Raghav's house tells, “Some unknown person is trying to steal ripe mangoes near your mango tree. You go and see."

While giving this news, Raghav is also not at his home, but as soon as Raghav comes home, his wife tells this news to Raghav.

Raghav does not see anything, immediately picks up the stick and runs towards the tree. The next day, Raghav and Keshav are called to Akbar's court. And Birbal narrates the story of the test done at night to Emperor Akbar, in which both the persons sent testify. Akbar declares Raghav the owner of the mango tree. And Keshav is severely punished for making a false claim on the tree. And praise Birbal for solving the matter wisely, cleverly.
