About Indra Nooyi


Indra Nooyi (pre-marriage: Indra Krishnamurthy) was born on October 28, 1955 in the city of Madras or Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is a noted Indian-American businessman who served as the former Chairman (2007–19) and Chief Executive Officer or CEO (2006–18) of the multinational corporation PepsiCo.


Amazing career of Indra Nooyi


Indra Nooyi started working at a young age and firmly believed in gaining as much knowledge as possible and seizing life's opportunity. Indra Nooyi started her career in India as a product manager for Johnson & Johnson and Mettur Beardsley, a clothing company. He also completed a summer internship with Booz Allen Hamilton while attending the Yale School of Management in the US. After 1980, Nooyi served as a strategy consultant for the Boston Consulting Group for the next six years. She later worked for Motorola Inc. as vice president and director of corporate strategy and planning. She later went to work for the engineering firm Asea Brown Boveri (now ABB).


PepsiCo

Indra Nooyi became Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development at PepsiCo in 1994. He became the company's president and chief financial officer (CFO) in 2001. In October 2006, his hard work, foresight, strategic alignment and business experience brought him victory. the title of CEO and the following year, she also became the chair of the board. She was the fifth president and CEO of PepsiCo in the company's 42 years of existence.


Having said that, Nooyi was the first woman to head a soft-drink and snack-food conglomerate and one of only 11 female CEOs in the Fortune 500. PepsiCo's revenue grew from $35 billion in 2006 to nearly $63.5 billion in 2017, and annual net profit grew from $2.7 billion to $6.5 billion during his tenure. All this was possible because of his consistent and consistent leadership. For more than a decade, Nooyi led PepsiCo's global strategy and transformation, including the 1997 launch of Tricon, now called Yum! brands, which include Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell. He led the acquisition of Tropicana in 1998 and merged with Gatorade with the Quaker Oats Company in 2001, allowing PepsiCo to gain a competitive advantage.


On August 6, 2018, Nooyi stepped down as CEO, and was replaced on October 3 by Ramon Laguerta, a 22-year PepsiCo veteran who also joined the board of directors. On the other hand, Nooyi remained the chairman of the company till the beginning of 2019. He is also currently a member of the board of directors of Amazon and the International Cricket Council.

In 2014, she was ranked 13th on Forbes list of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the World.

In 2009 and 2010, Fortune named her the most powerful woman in business.

She was named the second most powerful woman in the list twice, in 2015 and 2017.

She was named to The Wall Street Journal's list of 50 Women in 2007 and 2008, as well as to Time's 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Nooyi was named one of NDTV's "25 Greatest Global Living Legends" in 2013.

Former President of India Late Shri Abdul Kalam honored him with the prestigious award of Padma Bhushan in 2007 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

CEOWORLD magazine named Nooyi the "Best CEO in the World" in 2018.

Indra Nooyi was appointed co-director of the Connectivity Economic Resource Center in 2019, a public-private partnership with the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development.

The League of Women Voters of Connecticut honored Nooyi with the Outstanding Woman in Business Award in February 2020.
