Russia explodes dam, Ukraine warns of disaster

 Ukraine on Tuesday accused Russian forces of blowing up the Kakhovka dam and a hydroelectric power station in Ukraine. The move poses a threat of massive flooding in the area. The authorities have described it as an 'ecological disaster'. Officials on both sides have ordered the evacuation of thousands of residents living in the lower reaches of the river.


Russia said the Kakhovka Dam on the Dnieper River in Ukrainian hamlets was damaged. The collapse of this dam can have major consequences. Due to this, houses, streets, commercial establishments can be flooded in low-lying areas, Europe's largest nuclear power plant can be closed, 100 villages and cities can be flooded.

Ukraine, Russia a terrorist country, said in the International Court


The Hague. Presenting Ukraine's case against Russia in a top UN court, top Ukrainian diplomat Anton Korinevich called Russia a terrorist state. He was providing information to the judges in the International Court of Justice about annexation of Crimea to Russia in 2014 and arms to the rebels.
