More layoffs likely in big tech companies: Musk
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that big tech companies can lay off more employees without affecting their productivity. Most of the big tech companies are based in the Silicon Valley of America.
Musk has laid off more than 80 percent of employees from Twitter, the microblogging platform he bought last year. Virtually addressing the Wall Street Journal summit held in London, Musk said that there were many people on Twitter who were of no special importance.
I think that's true of many companies in Silicon Valley. Citing a report, Musk said, "I think there is a possibility of significant reduction in the number of employees in those companies without affecting the productivity." Musk said that Twitter now has about 1,500 employees.
That's a reasonable number. Twitter had about 7,500 employees before Musk bought it.
