Economic ties central to Indo-US strategic partnership: Blinken

 US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the India-US partnership is unimaginable and full of hope. Ahead of the state visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Blinken said the economic relationship is at the heart of the India-US strategic partnership and both countries are helping to shape future innovations and the norms that govern them. Blinken addressed the India Ideas Summit of the US-India Business Council (USIBC). Annual USIBC Summit US Chambers of Commerce

and is being organized ahead of PM Modi's upcoming state visit to the US on 22 June. Blinken spoke about the vast and complex relationship between the world's oldest and largest democracies.

I spoke openly and said, there is still work to be done to increase transparency, increase market access and strengthen relevant democracies to unleash the full potential for the people.

The White House has said that the US has a "significant" defense partnership with India and "excellent cooperation" in the Quad. We look forward to this historic visit," John Kirby, National Security Council's Strategic Communications Coordinator at the White House, said ahead of PM Modi's upcoming visit.

US Secretary of State Blinken said that trade between the two countries reached a record $191 billion last year. American companies invested $54 billion in India. Indian companies have invested more than $40 billion in the US in IT, pharmaceuticals and other sectors. This created 4,25,000 jobs in the country. Air India's announcement in February to buy more than 200 Boeing planes will support one million jobs.
