Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey has raised political heat over a claim made in the context of India. Dorsey claimed in an interview to a YouTube channel that during the farmer's movement, the government banned some Twitter handles and threatened to raid the houses of company officials along with shutting down Twitter in India for not doing so. Responding to a question about pressure from foreign governments, Dorsey, who has resigned from Twitter's board, said several Twitter handles from India were recommended to be banned. Union Minister of State for Information Technology Rajiv Chandrasekhar said, Twitter repeatedly violated the laws of India during the farmer's movement.
